Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a motivated love triangle born with the desire for power regardless of the consequential outcome. The ambitious “Sweet Fire of Love” of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth culminates in an empty love that leaves them in their harsh, decaying world surrounded by death and destruction. The ever-present suggestion of darkness that lurks throughout the play is reminiscent of the supernatural influence that the witches invoke. Ultimately, the Macbeth’s power is eradicated and the rebirth of the country is led by the young new blood.
Reference to “Sweet Fire of Love” by Robbie Robertson is a song used in the sound design for Macbeth. |
